Teachers Dream is a GreaterGood South Africa initiative
to help South African teachers bring learning to life.

Experiential learning is a vital part of outcomes-based education. But many schools simply can't afford to take learners on outings or organise inspiring speakers in the classroom. They don't cost much but experiences like these can stay with a child for life.

Teachers Dream helps make learning dreams come true.

• We receive proposals from teachers for inspirational learning experiences - their Dreams.
• Dream proposals are carefully selected and posted on this website.
• Members of the public and companies can choose Dreams to support in part or in full.
• When a Dream is fully funded, we pay for what is needed and the teacher carries out the Dream.
• The teacher sends us a report, photos (we provide the camera) and thank-you letters from learners. We put the full report online for donors and other teachers to view.

Who can Dream?

Any South African educator (Grade R-12) who is registered with the South African Council for Educators and is actively teaching outcomes-based education can apply. Each teacher can propose 3 Dreams.

What's in a Dream?

Dreams must provide an educational experience for an identified group of learners - like an outing or activity or classroom resources. Teachers must link their Dream Lessons to particular Learning Outcomes.

Dreams can't promote discrimination or a particular religious or political viewpoint. And they must be appropriate for the school. Dreams cost between R100 and R5,000.
