Parliament Experience
Vuyani Public Primary School
During the time of the outing in August, I was just finishing the topic of Democracy in History. Most of our learners are coming from the disadvantaged community. The assistance that we received from you, your company and the funders were meaningful for the excursion. The information that the learners receive at the National Parliament was relevant to their topic. The experience of being in Cape Town CBD was very much admired by the learners because not all of them have the opportunity of visiting the city centre for many different reasons.
The day was organized because the buses arrived in good time at the school. That made us not to rush when boarding the buses. All the necessary arrangements were done by the school in terms of checking the roadworthiness of the buses, as it is the departmental regulation. All the learners were so excited for two main reasons i.e. for being in the city centre and visiting parliament. As a school through your help and assistance, we made arrangements with the booking department in parliament and Kentucky outlet in good time.
As we have already told the learners about the funders, when we arrived at the main gate in parliament, learners were so excited to see and speak to the people who made their dreams to come true. When they finally met them, they all wanted to speak at the same time. The group (funders) was also excited because they told me that it was their first time extending their help for a good cause (in education). The group accompanied us throughout the visit taking photos of different chambers and he learners.
After the visit our learners thanked the funders. We then went to the Cape Town Company Gardens for lunch. That was another most important part of the learner's excursion because to them those chances are limited. We then fed them with Kentucky and juices. The following week we had a short summary of what the learners have learnt. This was done in the form of a test just to recap what they have learnt. I found the excursion was helpful because I could see that the learners were talking about what they know and understand.
Professionalism and commitment shown by you and your company in organizing and making the trip a success means that you care. As a school we would like to say to you and Teachers Dream "Keep up the good work that you are doing".
Thank you very much for everything.
